Empowering young Ignatians through faith, service, and community
Our Mission
Magis Nigeria is a youth group of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) dedicated to forming young people in the Ignatian tradition. We strive to empower young adults to live out the Magis - the "more" or "greater" - in their daily lives through spiritual formation, service to others, and building a community of faith.
Founded on the principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we encourage young people to seek God in all things and to become men and women for and with others. Through our programs and activities, we provide opportunities for young adults to deepen their faith, develop leadership skills, and engage in meaningful service.

The Magis Encounter
Experience spiritual growth and community through our transformative Magis Encounter.
Discover the Magis Experience
The Magis Encounter is a transformative retreat experience rooted in Ignatian spirituality. It offers young adults an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, connect with like-minded peers, and discover their unique calling.
Regular Encounters
We host Magis Encounters once a year, providing the unique spiritual and cross-cultural opportunities to fellowship with brothers and sisters.
Various Locations
The Encounter take place at different centers across Nigeria and Ghana, making them accessible to young adults across the North West-African Jesuit Province.
The Examen
A reflection exercise to become aware of how God is active in your life
The Examen is a method of reviewing your day in the presence of God. It's a time set aside for thankful reflection on where God is in your everyday life. It has five steps, which most people take in order:
- Give thanks - for the gifts and blessings of the day
- Ask for light - to see how God has been present in your day
- Examine the day - review the moments of your day
- Seek forgiveness - for the times you've fallen short
- Resolve to change - look toward tomorrow with hope
